Many of you know me as the family historian behind this blog and podcast, Journey Through the Generations. You have followed me as I have researched my ancestors, uncovered family stories, shared discoveries, and written about all things genealogy. But there is one part of my own family history that I have never shared here as it was happening.
In 2019 the results of a simple at home genetic DNA test changed the story I thought I knew about my family. I discovered that the man who raised me was not my biological father, a discovery known as a non-paternal event (NPE).
For a long time, I wasn’t ready to make this discovery a part of my blog or my research journey in general. I needed time to process what I had learned, to understand what it meant for me and my family, and to find my way through all the questions and emotions that came with it. Some stories simply aren’t ready to be told as they are happening.
So, instead of blogging about this discovery, I found myself writing something much bigger. Over the past two years, I’ve put into words a journey that has unfolded over the last six years, and those words eventually became my memoir.
I’m excited, proud, and honestly a little nervous to share my first book, When DNA Tells a Different Story: The Journey Into My Non-Paternal Event Discovery. This is a deeply personal story, and I’m finally ready to share it with you.

My memoir is coming this October, and preorders are now open. Click HERE to order.
Thank you for being here, for following my journey, and giving me a place to share the stories of the generations that came before me as well as my own story.
So cool! Congratulations!!!
Thank you so much!!!!
I look forward to reading your memoir and will be ordering it soon. What a lot for you to process.
You did it!
