  1. Such a beautiful photo. Is there a story behind this that you care to share?? I ask because until I was about 16, I knew of all my mother’s siblings except one. Why was she never mentioned until hardships forced us to move where she lived. We look exactly alike, I believe she is my birth mother for various reasons besides the fact that of all the photos collected over the years, I’ve never seen one of my mom pregnant with me. Thanks for sharing ❣️

This is my paternal grandfather’s sister. He died when my father was 12 years old. So I didn’t know much about him or his family until I started researching our family ancestry. I found this photo and some newspaper articles about when she visited back in the 1950s. I’ve written a series about researching about my Grandpa Booker.

This research has allowed me to see my family, especially my grandparents in a different light. They didn’t talk about their accomplishments or their lives very much. Or I was just too little to understand and listen well.

Absolutely fascinating thank you so much for posting I wonder if she could possibly be my mother’s sister Gwendolyn Powell who I haven’t seen since I was about eight years old
