12 Days of My FAN Club – Day 7

*** I’m talking about the FAN principle used by genealogists to list Friends, Associates, and Neighbors of your ancestors.  Your FAN club can be a great research technique that can help break down brick walls and help you learn more about your ancestors lives and their communities. I can’t do a FAN Club series and not mention W. F. Branch High School. Branch High is the definition of FAN Club principles. Branch High in the Newport community was friends, associates, and neighbors all rolled into one. I’ve written about the long-lasting legacy of Branch High, so I won’t repeat myself too much. What I will say is that Branch is where my grandmother worked, and my parents and their siblings went to school. Branch was the school of the neighborhood, and has had a long lasting legacy for multiple generations.

This is a photo of the program of the Arkansas State Association of Student Councils that was hosted at W.F. Branch High in 1968. The program includes greetings from the Principal, Norman Calhoun and faculty.
