Genealogy Tuesdays

In an effort to make time for my research, which is something I haven’t done consistently in the past 18 months, I’m going to set aside time every Tuesday after work for my research. I’m calling it ‘Genealogy Tuesdays’. A few years ago my son had tutoring on Tuesdays at the library after school. While he was with his tutor, I would sit in the genealogy area of the library and research. It was during those Genealogy Tuesdays that I was able to go through the Arkansas Delayed Birth Index (that has now been digitized) to find my grandfather and his siblings birth records. I made some great discoveries that year.

There are libraries in my area with wonderful genealogy records, so I will definitely be utilizing them. I am focusing my research on one set of my great grandparents, three sets of 2X great grandparents, and the slave holding family of my mother’s paternal line. So I will be using my time in the libraries for that research. But I also have boxes of information and photos that I received while cleaning out my family’s ancestral home this past summer that I still need to go through and organize. So my Genealogy Tuesdays will be a combination of me doing actual research in the library, organizing family documents/photos, writing blog posts, and deciding on photos for my Wordless Wednesdays.

I have a lot of questions that still need answers. So hopefully carving out this time every week will help me stay more consistent with my research. Do you find making time for your research gets harder the longer you research? How do you make time for your research?
