Season 6 of Relative Race Premieres on Sunday, September 22, 2019

One of my favorite genealogy TV shows will be returning next week. Relative Race Season 6 premieres Sunday, September 22, 2019, on BYUTV, so set your DVRs or download the app to watch it anytime. I’m so excited!!!!

Relative Race is a reality show where four paired up teams race/drive across America using only paper maps and a flip phone (no GPS or smartphones allowed) in search for their relatives.  Prior to the show, each contestant has taken an Ancestry DNA test.  This is a 10-day competition where each day the contestants are given a city to drive and a challenge to complete, to obtain their relatives’ address.  These relatives are complete strangers that the contestants have never met before, and they have to spend the night with their newfound relatives.  The last team to arrive at their relative’s home receives a strike.  If a team receives three strikes that team is eliminated from the show.  Its kind of like Amazing Race meets Who Do You Think You Are?

In past seasons some Relative Race contestants have met siblings, first cousins, and parents for the first time on the show.  As the host Dan Debenham says at the opening of each show, DNA tells us who we are and where we came from. Once you watch one episode, I promise you will be hooked.
