New Year…New Genealogy Challenge

It’s a new year, and with that, I’ve decided that I would challenge myself. I read a fellow genealogy blogger’s, Organize Your Family History, latest blog 30X30 challenge.  The goal of the challenge is to challenge herself into doing 30 minutes of genealogy research every day for 30 days in a row.  I thought this was a great idea.  But I’m going to put my own spin to it.

I have a few ancestors that I have hit a brick wall in my research. So my 30X30 challenge will be to research one particular ancestor for 30 minutes for 30 days in a row.  Hopefully, this will help me to stay focused on that ancestor and find some new information.  I have a composition notebook that I will track my research in every day.  That way I will know what and where I have already researched.

I will be starting this challenge today, January 3, 2018, and the challenge will end on February 1, 2018. I have decided to start with my 2X great grandfather, Jacob Skipper.  All I know about him is the year he was born, the year he married his wife, Josie Ward Skipper, and the names of his children.  I’m excited to start researching this ancestor, finding new information about him, and discovering new research techniques along the way.  And this is why my journey continues….
