I’ve always felt deeply connected to my family through cherished photos and memories. My official research journey didn’t begin until 2011. In these past 14 years, I have made some wonderful discoveries that I will be sharing to celebrate the holiday season.

In 2017 I took a meaningful step in my family history journey by submitting my application and supporting documents to become a member of the Sons and Daughters of the United States Middle Passage lineage society in honor of my enslaved ancestor Robert Hatchett.
Submitting my lineage application wasn’t just proving my connection to Robert Hatchett but also proving that he was enslaved in the United States of America and therefore acknowledging his existence, his humanity, and the legacy that he left behind. My membership in this lineage society ensures that his name and story will never be erased and will always be preserved.
