I’ve always felt deeply connected to my family through cherished photos and memories. My official research journey didn’t begin until 2011. In these past 14 years, I have made some wonderful discoveries that I will be sharing to celebrate the holiday season.

When I started researching my family history in 2011, I never imagined it would lead to public speaking. Speaking in public has never been one of my strengths. I have always been focused on learning about my ancestors and understanding their communities and stories.
Genealogy has gotten me out of my introverted comfort zone. I share my family history research online and with other family historians at conferences. Some of the people I have met along the way and some people that I have known most of my life have asked me to share my family history as presentations for a genealogy society, family reunions, and my hometown community college.
Speaking about my research has helped me become more confident, more open, and more willing to share the methods and discoveries that have guided my journey. I never expected genealogy to lead me to public speaking, but it has become one of the most unexpected gifts of this journey.
