52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks 2025 – Week 47: The Name’s the Same

NOTE: I accepted the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks challenge headed by fellow genealogy blogger Amy Johnson Crow. The idea behind this challenge is that you will receive email prompts, a word or phrase, every week, and you find something about your research or family history to write about.  Click HERE to read my first 52 Ancestors blog post in 2019.

Your name is more than letters put together to make a word.  Many times people will see your name before they actually meet you in person.  Your name will eventually tell a story to those who know you and have been a part of your life.

My husband and I have been married for 25 years. We share a life, businesses, family traditions, and dreams. We also share a funny little naming coincidence: both of us were named after our mothers. I’m Trisha, named after my mom Patricia, and my husband is Phillip, named after his mom Phyllis. It’s our own personal fun fact to talk about with other family historians.

I have discovered many of my ancestors had been named for other relatives.  It lets me know that names have always been important in our family for many generations. It’s nice to know that my husband and I share special connection with our names in this family history journey.
