The second day is always harder to get of bed. But I was able to finally get up and get moving and headed to the Salt Palace in time for my 8am class. To my surprise I walked outside of my hotel to snow and much colder temperatures. But luckily I over packed, so I have some extra clothes to layer to ensure that I stay warm because being cold would probably put me in a bad mood. As soon as I walked in the Salt Palace, I forgot all about the cold and snow and entered my happy place.

Today’s sessions happen to be in the same part of the convention center which meant less walking which was a plus. Today I was determined to get something to eat a little earlier than usual and was able to sit with my RootsTech cousins. We were able to catch up, talk about our research, next steps in our research, and people watch. The time spent with my genealogy buddies and RootsTech cousins is just as important and informative as the sessions I attend. They motivate me, encourage me, give me new research ideas, and help with breaking down some of my hardest brick walls. The connections I have made throughout the my years of coming to RootsTech are unmatched, and I am eternally grateful.

After lunch I have one session on my schedule followed by an interview with Nicka Smith from BlackProGen Live and Ancestry. With the rest of my afternoon free, I think I may head over to the Family Search Library and get some research in. Wish me luck.
Sessions I attended:
- Interracial Cousins Find Shared Ancestry, Sparking a Rewarding Journey to Africa – presented by Desi Campbell and Deena Hill
- 10 Places to Search for an Ancestor’s Death Date…Without a Death Certificate – presented by Elizabeth Swanay O’Neal
- Keynote Speaker – Dana Tanamachi
- Discover Ancestry Networks: A look at Trask 250 – presented by Nicka Smith
