RootsTech has officially started. Well actually for me it started last night with the RootsTech Media Dinner. The CEO of Family Search, Steve Rockwood spoke. He talked about the theme of this year’s conference, ‘Discover’, and for him it reminded him of going back to basics of family history. He said ‘We can all add what we know, whether great or small’. That’s exactly what I intend to do. I can tell this is going to be a busy three days.

I had an extra early morning because I was invited to a VIP breakfast with Storied that started at 7am. I was able to get some inside information about their new StoriedBook. You can create and publish your own book using their website and features. After breakfast I headed to my first session of the day and ran into some of my RootsTech cousins. It was like being at a family reunion.

After the keynote speaker, Phillip and I recorded a podcast episode. This year the media team had access to a podcast space in the expo hall. I thought it was cool to record a podcast right in the expo hall with everything going on around us. I had a busy and productive morning, and it was time to get some lunch. I walked around the expo hall for a little bit until my next session.

I had two sessions after lunch. The expo hall was extended to 630pm tonight, so I took that opportunity to walk around and actually talk with some of the vendors. I decided to take the night off from the Family Search Library. I ended the night just as I started at the coat check. Looking back at my day today, I got a lot in today. I’m going to get some rest because I know tomorrow is going to just as busy if not busier.
