RootsTech 2024, February 29-March 2

This time of year is always exciting. The beginning of a new year, making new year’s resolutions, getting back to my normal schedule after the holiday season, and for me gearing up for the world’s largest genealogy conference, RootsTech. RootsTech will be held in Salt Lake City at the Salt Palace convention center on February 29 – March 2, 2024. But if you aren’t able to make it in person this year, no worries because RootsTech is also virtual. Registration is required for both options. The in-person conference is $109 for a three-day pass and $69 for a one day pass. The virtual conference is FREE. Go to RootsTech.org to register.

The in-person conference gives you over 250 genealogy sessions to choose from including beginning genealogy research, DNA, methodology, organization, using land and county records, and so much more. RootsTech sessions are presented by the best and brightest in genealogy including Janice Cross Gilyard, Bernice Bennett, Sunny Morton, Renate Yarbrough Sanders, and Jarrett Ross just to name a few. RootsTech is a genealogy wonderland for all those who are researching from the beginner to the professional genealogist. There’s something for everyone.

You can’t go to a genealogy conference in Salt Lake City and not go to the Family Search Library. Especially since it’s two blocks from the Salt Palace convention center. So make sure you block off some time to spend using the new research techniques that you learn in sessions during the conference. The Family Search Library is the largest genealogical library in the world holding collections, books, maps, and microfilm for over 110 countries and territories. Not only can you research while you are there, but you can also record your family stories/memories in a recording booth and digitize family records such as photos, film, 35 mm slides and scan books.

RootsTech is always a busy three days. It’s time for me to focus solely on my family history research. My research is always energized by the sessions, keynote speakers, and the Family Search Library. I’m able to connect with genealogy friends that I have met through social media over the years in person and make new genealogy friends. It’s a time to be with other like minded family historians, listen to their stories, and share my stories. So to say that I’m excited about RootsTech this year would be an understatement. Let me know if you are attending the conference this year, and what you are looking forward to most. If you are attending in person and see me in a session, in the expo hall, or in the Family Search Library please stop and say hello. I would love to meet you.
